Hatred of Jews — It's Here, Real and as Dangerous as Ever

'Antisemitism is not just the Jewish community’s issue. It’s everybody’s'

Madison, Wisconsin — I was perusing an excellent new Substack website of a progressive, writing about the anniversary of the Iraq War invasion and lies.

Left a 'hello' comment for author from my wife and me, who had picked the gentleman up from the Dane County airport 20 years ago.

Then I was immediately trolled by this lunatic, one Clarence Wilhelm Spangle, writing in part: "Fuck you and your Jewish god. . . . The United States government is a wholly owned subsidiary of the American Israeli political Action Committee."

I had not been trolled like that in a while and not with this vile anti-Semitism.

I called a friend who has devoted the majority of his life fighting for civil liberties and against anti-Semitism, Mikey Weinstein, and received the following profile intel on Clarence Wilhelm Spangle:

First, the name ‘Nordic Pagan Solider” was not significant other than being connected to this Clarence Wilhelm Spangle. I found two other websites where this Clarence Spangle posts virulently anti-Semitic Hitler-loving garbage.  The first is Bitchute (a site similar to YouTube) and along with anti-Semitic videos such as "FUCK YOU AND YOUR JEWISH GOD RACE MIXING LOSERS," his about section contains the Nazi SS motto, “ϟϟ Meine Ehre heißt Treue ϟϟ”

 Ref: https://www.bitchute.com/channel/cwspangle/

From there, I found a website called Ancient Faces where Spangle posts pictures of Hitler and used the same Nazi SS motto. However, he also posted his interest in the surname Wilman and made a few posts regarding a real person named August E Wilman who died in Carmel, California in the early 2000s.

Ref: https://www.ancientfaces.com/user/clarence-spangle/394802 and ref: https://www.spokeo.com/August-Wilman/California/Carmel/p40458225405

I’d speculate that he’s related to this August Wilman or a friend but with that nugget of real information he provided, I found a Clarence W Spangle living in Jacksonville, Florida.  Of most interest, this Charles Spangle also lived in Carmel, California from 2001-2012 just six miles away from where August Wilman lived. So almost certainly this Charence W Spangle living in Jacksonville, Florida is the one making these hate posts.

I’ve attached Spangle’s current address and phone information.

The point is anti-Semitism is getting worse, and I urge folks to consider lending their voice against it.

It takes little imagination to contemplate nonsensical, incoherent myths, contrived races, demonized enemies of the people and lunatics in politics can explosively combine to catastrophic result.

If we could time-travel to 1930, and speculate on the rise of an anti-Semitic lunatic, we would likely postulate France or Russia.

In any event, post-World War II, we carry on an obligation to never forget and never let idiocy go unchallenged.

Lend your support to Stand Up to Jewish Hate.

Retweet:

My wife and I have always admired World War II veterans, though we know well U.S. work against anti-Semitism was less than perfect.

Still, we beat the Nazis, and their project to destroy the European Jews.

Today and always, I salute fighters against Nazis and standing up to Jewish hate.

From Mikey Wienstein to Al Liethen, and millions more, thank you.

Door County Man Who Coal-Rolled Anti-Scott Walker Protesters Found Guilty

Gassed by Patrick Markham of Luxemburg, Wisconsin.
Members of the Door County (Wisconsin) Indivisible
Coalition held a small protest in April outside of the
Sturgeon Bay Yacht Club where Scott Walker and
Republicans chided citizens for opposing Walker's
reelection. The gathering of some 38 residents was
disrupted by a white truck, reportedly driven by a local
Republican activist, Patrick Markham, owner
of North Shore Marine Services. The truck
approached the crowd and ejected black smoke
at the gathering, a rightwing tactic to disrupt protests. The
tactic is known variously as "rolling coal" and the "coal
treatment." Rolling coal is the injection of fuel into an
engine to cause a profusion of black exhaust fumes directed
at targets. The fumes are a dangerous pollutant, and
extremely toxic to children.
Patrick Markham claimed in Facebook comments
that he "rolled coal threw, (sic) them when I left work."
Markham also said, "I am glad they got the coal treatment,"
and "Suck my exhaust." Pictured above is a member of
the Door County (Wisconsin) Indivisible Coalition,

A Republican activist in Door County, Patrick Markham of Luxemburg, Wisconsin, didn't like an April, anti-Scott Walker protest.

So, Markham approached the crowd in his truck and then gunned his engine and roared his truck next to the protesters and gassed the group by emitting black exhaust, coal rolling, in an apparent attempt to cause the protesting families to breathe in the toxic fumes.

Markham was found guilty today of a municipal civil citation, and faces a likely civil action.

Markham testified in own defense and claimed he was forced to coal roll the group because, Markham claimed, protesters had held their signs too close to his truck earlier that day, April 7, while protesting Gov. Scott Walker (R).

Markham was fined $263.50 plus witness fees totaling some $54.95.

"Markham's testimony on the stand was stupid-on-stupid," said a spectator who is hostile to Republicans.

Sept 14 trial set for toxic-gas, coal-rolling attack in Door County Wisconsin

Updated - Families protested in Sturgeon Bay in northeastern Wisconsin outside a Scott Walker  political event last April 7.

The families are public school, voting rights, clean water and healthcare advocates, almost comically good-natured, speaking in thick Wisconsin accents, as captured on video (Facebook) by Green Bay Press Gazette reporter, Liz Welter.

In Wisconsin, this means these people are demonized by Gov. Scott Walker (R) who faces reelection.

Walker spoke at the Republican Door County Wisconsin Lincoln Day Dinner that day and labeled these people and others objecting to his policies as hateful.

A Republican activist in Door County, Patrick Markham of Luxemburg, Wisconsin, didn't like the anti-Scott Walker sentiment either.

At the April event, Markham approached crowd in his truck and then gunned his engine and roared his truck next to the protesters and gassed the group by emitting black exhaust, coal rolling, in an apparent attempt to cause the protesting families to breathe in the toxic fumes.

"Suck my exhaust," wrote Patrick Markham  in Facebook comments.

Markham also said, "I am glad they got the coal treatment," and that he "rolled coal threw (sic) them when I left work."

Markham was cited with disorderly conduct after an investigation by the Sturgeon Bay Police dept, but only with a municipal citation and not a criminal misdemeanor.

Markham pled not guilty to the civil citation in August, (Door County Case Number 2018FO000139 Sturgeon Bay, City of vs. Patrick Forest Markham).

A trial is scheduled for September 14, 2018 at 02:00 p.m. at the Door County Justice Center, in the Door County Courthouse, located at 1205 South Duluth Avenue in Sturgeon Bay.

A large crowd is expected as indignant families will face a reckless Republican, Patrick Markham, who maliciously endangered dozens of people with whom he disagrees.

The trial takes place during an era when the mere existence of non-Republican thought and action is regarded by Republicans as illegitimate expression, an unAmerican dynamic occurring at all levels of elected government.

Wisconsin citizens working against Scott Walker and
other Republicans were assaulted by a Republican coal
roller at a protest on April 7 in Sturgeon Bay.

people attending the event for healthcare,
voting rights and the environment. The event
was organized by the Door County Indivisible Coalition.
The shot is from Door County Advocate video.
From the Door County Indivisible Coalition email in April following the incident:

ALERT:  A number of you were at the "Welcome to Republicans" rally that we held on April 7th in Sturgeon Bay.  At one point during the rally a white truck (with two small children inside the truck) "rolled coal" at all of our rally participants.  We have since learned that "rolling coal" or black smoke is illegal - especially since we had three children and a donkey as well as 38 participants who could have been adversely affected by this action.  One of our members reported this incident to the police.  The incident was documented in part by the Facebook bragging by the participant who either works for or owns a business in Sturgeon Bay - Markham is his name.  The Police Department was very disturbed by this event.  The officer wanted to know if any of us have video or other evidence that would document this despicable action.  So please, if you have a picture or are willing to be a witness let me know.  I think that the "hate and anger" rhetoric of the Republicans needs to be rebutted.

Scott Walker, Patrick Markham and the lies and hate that define Wisconsin Republicans needs to be opposed.

Following are two Facebook comments left by Markham last April:

Wisconsin Senate Special Election — Pro-Scott Walker 'Coal Roller' Gets Smoked

Wisconsin citizens working against Scott

at a protest on April 7 in Sturgeon Bay.

A Scott Walker-supporting Patrick Markham has been cited with a municipal citation for disorderly conduct with a motor vehicle, (first offense), for purposely directing toxic fumes at an anti-Scott Walker demonstration held on April 7 in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin.

The citation is dated April 26, 2018 and has been mailed to, (served upon), Markham, the Sturgeon Bay Police Department confirmed this morning.

The alleged incident by Markham is known as "coal rolling," ejecting and directing toxic black smoke to poison and intentionally cause distress, often used as a rightwing tactic to disrupt protests with which rightwingers disagree.

The incident was captured on video by the Door County Advocate and a reporter, Liz Welter, from the Green Bay Press Gazette was present and witnessed the event.

A protestor is seen on Door County Advocate video, saying a "rude person" just "gassed everybody," as a white truck apparently driven by Markham roared by.

A protester filed a complaint with the Sturgeon Bay Police Department who investigated the complaint beginning on April 18 and issued the citation on April 26, after alerting Markham by phone.

In Facebook comments left by Markham in response to the video, Markham wrote:

"Suck my exhaust"

"I am glad they got the coal treatment"

"... I rolled coal threw (sic) them when I left work"
The April 7 protest was organized by the Door County Indivisible Coalition in part to challenge Scott Walker's campaign message that to oppose Walker's reelection is to engage in hate.

Moyers Slams Rightwing

Bill Moyers eviscerates the rightwing, calling it a fountain of ignorance.

Makes for some late-Summer fun reading, including Garry Wills' review of Sam Tanenhaus' The Death of Conservatism.

I know many rightwingers. Certainly, not all are benighted bigots.

But the anti-intellectualism of the right wing is undeniable.

Without the specific support from and appeal to racism and hate, the American right wing as embodied in the Republican Party simply would not exist today.

Black Helicopters and Birthers

Rick Perlstein has a piece in the Washington Post that would make H.L. Mencken proud.

The American rightwing is not crazy, just ignorant, bigoted and foolish. Makes for some lively entertainment.

In America, Crazy Is a Preexisting Condition
Birthers, Town Hall Hecklers and the Return of Right-Wing Rage

By Rick Perlstein

In Pennsylvania last week, a citizen, burly, crew-cut and trembling with rage, went nose to nose with his baffled senator: 'One day God's going to stand before you, and he's going to judge you and the rest of your damned cronies up on the Hill. And then you will get your just deserts.' He was accusing Arlen Specter of being too kind to President Obama's proposals to make it easier for people to get health insurance.

In Michigan, meanwhile, the indelible image was of the father who wheeled his handicapped adult son up to Rep. John Dingell and bellowed that 'under the Obama health-care plan, which you support, this man would be given no care whatsoever.' He pressed his case further on Fox News.

Islam Is Coming to Get You

Ronald Reagan's reputed "favorite newspaper," Human Events in now promoting ... Mark Steyn's Ameircan Alone, The End of the World as We Know It that asks: 'Will Europe Trade Christianity for Islam?' The book is free, if you subscribe to Human Events, America's conservative newsweekly.

An amusing piece of Americana to keep in mind as the Tea Partyers and rightwing keep up their nonsense.

The louder and more hysterical the right becomes, the more Obama's numbers will skyrocket, much as Clinton's numbers did during the very height of the Monica hysteria.

Beyond more bold and transparent interventions into the economy, my political advice for the Obama administration is to do something that really pisses off the rightwing, while sounding positive and actually being helpful to American families. That could be just about anything.
