Gassed by Patrick Markham of Luxemburg, Wisconsin. Members of the Door County (Wisconsin) Indivisible Coalition held a small protest in April outside of the Sturgeon Bay Yacht Club where Scott Walker and Republicans chided citizens for opposing Walker's reelection. The gathering of some 38 residents was disrupted by a white truck, reportedly driven by a local Republican activist, Patrick Markham, owner of North Shore Marine Services. The truck approached the crowd and ejected black smoke at the gathering, a rightwing tactic to disrupt protests. The tactic is known variously as "rolling coal" and the "coal treatment." Rolling coal is the injection of fuel into an engine to cause a profusion of black exhaust fumes directed at targets. The fumes are a dangerous pollutant, and extremely toxic to children. Patrick Markham claimed in Facebook comments that he "rolled coal threw, (sic) them when I left work." Markham also said, "I am glad they got the coal treatment," and "Suck my exhaust." Pictured above is a member of the Door County (Wisconsin) Indivisible Coalition, holding her baby at the Scott Walker protest. "In July 2014, the United States Environmental Protection Agency stated that the practice was illegal, as it violated the Clean Air Act," reads an entry in Wikipedia |
Sept 14 trial set for toxic-gas, coal-rolling attack in Door County Wisconsin
Updated - Families protested in Sturgeon Bay in northeastern Wisconsin outside a Scott Walker political event last April 7.The families are public school, voting rights, clean water and healthcare advocates, almost comically good-natured, speaking in thick Wisconsin accents, as captured on video (Facebook) by Green Bay Press Gazette reporter, Liz Welter.
In Wisconsin, this means these people are demonized by Gov. Scott Walker (R) who faces reelection.
Walker spoke at the Republican Door County Wisconsin Lincoln Day Dinner that day and labeled these people and others objecting to his policies as hateful.
A Republican activist in Door County, Patrick Markham of Luxemburg, Wisconsin, didn't like the anti-Scott Walker sentiment either.
At the April event, Markham approached crowd in his truck and then gunned his engine and roared his truck next to the protesters and gassed the group by emitting black exhaust, coal rolling, in an apparent attempt to cause the protesting families to breathe in the toxic fumes.
"Suck my exhaust," wrote Patrick Markham in Facebook comments.
Markham also said, "I am glad they got the coal treatment," and that he "rolled coal threw (sic) them when I left work."
Markham was cited with disorderly conduct after an investigation by the Sturgeon Bay Police dept, but only with a municipal citation and not a criminal misdemeanor.
Markham pled not guilty to the civil citation in August, (Door County Case Number 2018FO000139 Sturgeon Bay, City of vs. Patrick Forest Markham).
A trial is scheduled for September 14, 2018 at 02:00 p.m. at the Door County Justice Center, in the Door County Courthouse, located at 1205 South Duluth Avenue in Sturgeon Bay.
A large crowd is expected as indignant families will face a reckless Republican, Patrick Markham, who maliciously endangered dozens of people with whom he disagrees.
The trial takes place during an era when the mere existence of non-Republican thought and action is regarded by Republicans as illegitimate expression, an unAmerican dynamic occurring at all levels of elected government.

Wisconsin citizens working against Scott Walker and other Republicans were assaulted by a Republican coal roller at a protest on April 7 in Sturgeon Bay. ALERT: A number of you were at the "Welcome to Republicans" rally that we held on April 7th in Sturgeon Bay. At one point during the rally a white truck (with two small children inside the truck) "rolled coal" at all of our rally participants. We have since learned that "rolling coal" or black smoke is illegal - especially since we had three children and a donkey as well as 38 participants who could have been adversely affected by this action. One of our members reported this incident to the police. The incident was documented in part by the Facebook bragging by the participant who either works for or owns a business in Sturgeon Bay - Markham is his name. The Police Department was very disturbed by this event. The officer wanted to know if any of us have video or other evidence that would document this despicable action. So please, if you have a picture or are willing to be a witness let me know. I think that the "hate and anger" rhetoric of the Republicans needs to be rebutted.

Scott Walker, Patrick Markham and the lies and hate that define Wisconsin Republicans needs to be opposed.
