Covid 19 — 2024 Campaign Looms amid Calls to Shut Down Risky Gain of Function Research That Caused Pandemic

A leading non-profit working for safety in high-risk research
on dangerous pathogens, BioSafety Now, in image above, offers
products it calls The Inconsistent with Evolution collection.
The items mock a comment by Kristian Andersen, professor of
Immunology, who in a leaked communication with Anthony Fauci
stated SARS-CoV-2 genome is "inconsistent with expectations from
evolutionary theory
," suggesting a bio-engineered cause of the
Covid 19 Pandemic, the opposite of what Fauci and Andersen said in
public. After the leak, corporate media leaped to Andersen and Fauci's
defense.
In the above image, "a graphic compar(es) the amino acid sequences
of spike proteins from viruses that are closely related to SARS-CoV-2.
The graphic highlights the unique presence of the furin cleavage
site (FCS) in SARS-CoV-2," (BioSafety Now). The furin
cleavage site (FCS) was not found in Sars-like viruses
before the Pandemic, and has been concluded by independent
scientists to point to human bio-engineering.

Lab Leak Blundering; Covid 19 Coverup; Americans Reject Biden Covid Lies

Biden Cannot Afford to Come Clean

Commentary

Madison, Wisconsin — If you believe 20 million dead; untold health devastation; and $Trillions in economic costs will make Joe Biden reverse course and acknowledge a U.S.-supported Chinese Wuhan lab caused the Pandemic, you likely have not spent much time analyzing American politics, now dominated by corporatist Democrats busily attempting to imprison their leading political opponent.

Even as facts leaked this year show the FBI and U.S. Dept. of Energy confirm a lab leak of a bio-engineered Sars-like Coronavirus [designed to be more transmissible and virulent (destructive) to human beings] caused the Pandemic, these facts are marginalized, mostly hidden by corporate network news and major newspapers that function as state-media propaganda organs to a degree today that may surprise even Noam Chomsky.

Can anyone imagine Joe Biden addressing our country in prime time, admitting he has blocked a 911-style investigation of Covid 19 origins; perpetrated deliberate and massive government lies, all because Biden made the decision that gaslighting-level deception of Americans is in the interests of national security? 'Sure I lied, but it's for your own good?' Won't happen.

Instead, to this day, the Biden administration keeps repeating its colossal Covid 19 origins lie; classifying intelligence demonstrating a lab leak; and mounting against hope the Biden clandestine State effort to control social media through censorship, banning and extortion, now being adjudicated in federal court; likely leading to a spectacular legal defeat next year as the 2024 campaign heats up.

Joe Biden has become the Baghdad Bob of Covid 19 origins; and there is very little our ailing president can do about it at this point, as some two-thirds of American believe a lab leak — a victory, and demonstration of the capacity of most people to see through governments' smokescreens.

Only Biden and elected Democrats, aided by media stooges, maintain against reason their colossal Covid lie, with unanimous Congressional Democrat collusion. Not the squad, Bernie Sanders, any Democrat dares issue even a press release recognizing the Emperor has no clothes.

Meanwhile, a Genetics professor at Rutgers University, Bryce Nickels, has called for the controversial non-profit EcoHealth Alliance to be shut down by federal authorities.

EcoHealth Alliance was implicated by a report (DRASTIC) in 2021 after a report chronicled how EcoHealth sought a $14 Million grant in 2018 from the United States Dept of Defense to bio-engineer SARS-like viruses to make a Coronavirus more transmissible and virulent (harmful), (DRASTIC report), in a manner that nearly replicates the capability and idiosyncratic structure, (a novel cleavage site proposed by scientists, and then discovered some two years later in the SARS-CoV-2 virus causing COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019)).

Wisconsin move to ban gain of function research

The ultimate campaign swing state, Wisconsin, was visited by the new director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in mid-August, 2023, as Dr. Mandy Cohen made Madison her first stop on a multi-state trip to urge and discuss vaccinations (Wahlberg, Wisconsin State Journal).

No public reporting on whether Dr. Cohen touched on COVID-19 and the "existential threat of scientific hubris" that has wrought destruction and tragedy (Butler, Lambrinidou, BioSafety Now).

Fortunately, Wisconsin Republicans, with no public Democratic Party support, plan to introduce state legislation that would ban gain of function research.

Gain of function is a high-risk research program on dangerous pathogens — such as Sars-like viruses, Avian influenza virus and Ebola virus — that is conducted, as BioSafety Now notes, "with the expressed purpose of making these viruses more transmissible between humans and thus more likely to cause devastating disease outbreaks," (Bryce E. Nickels, Justin B. Kinney, Richard H. Ebright; BioSafety Now).

Comments on the proposed state legislation, now in the Memo phase gathering sponsors, are reproduced below from an article at BioSafety Now, a non-profit with the mission to "draw attention to the constant threat of research-generated pandemics, through education as well as local, state, national, and international advocacy in partnership with communities who have mobilized or want to mobilize to protect themselves and the future of humanity."

Mark my words, deceit from government is not popular with the Americans people, perhaps even less so in Wisconsin. A presidential candidate vowing to tell Americans the truth has broad appeal in this age of unreason that some call the era of post-truth.

Comments on the proposed legislation that would prohibit institutions of higher education from conducting gain of function experimentation in Wisconsin (LRB-2947)

by Bryce E. Nickels, Justin B. Kinney, Richard H. Ebright

AUGUST 16, 2023

The core mission of Biosafety Now is to help protect the public from the dangers posed by high-risk research on dangerous pathogens. Biosafety Now believes that the public is a crucial stakeholder in high-risk research, and therefore must have a seat at the table in assessing whether the benefits of research projects outweigh risks. If passed, the bill LRB-2947 would establish a role for the public in regulating risky research, would provide critical protections for the citizens of Wisconsin, and would advance environmental justice both in the state of Wisconsin and world-wide.

What would the bill do?

The bill prohibits “gain-of-function research on potential pandemic pathogens” in the state of Wisconsin. Gain-of-function research on potential pandemic pathogens is scientific research that makes pathogens (such as viruses) more likely to cause devastating global pandemics.

Gain-of-function research on potential pandemic pathogens is a very small part (less than 0.01%) of biomedical research.

Gain-of-function research on potential pandemic pathogens is exceedingly risky: one lab accident by a single researcher has the potential to cause a catastrophic epidemic within the local community, which in turn has the potential to seed a devastating world-wide pandemic.

The bill also includes key transparency provisions that require researchers (1) to disclose the location, scope, purpose, and funding source for research on potentially pandemic pathogens, (2) to describe the impact the pathogen will have on the public if there is an accidental or deliberate release, and (3) to describe the measures the lab will take to ensure the pathogen is not released. In addition, currently, most state and local governments have no information on the pathogens research in their jurisdictions, and thus are unable to prepare, equip, and train first responders to deal with laboratory accidents involving pathogens in their jurisdictions.

Taken together, the provisions of this bill safeguard the citizens of Wisconsin (as well as members of the global community) against an existential threat to their safety and provide members of the public with information about what research is being performed in their communities.

What would the bill NOT do?

The bill would NOT impede the development of vaccines or disease treatments. Gain-of-function research on potential pandemic pathogens plays no role and makes no contribution to the development of vaccines or other disease treatments.

The bill would NOT harm the biotechnology sector, either in Wisconsin or elsewhere in the US. Indeed, there are no civilian companies in the biotechnology sector that are pursuing this type of research, or that build on the results of this type of research.

The bill would NOT have a substantial negative impact on the University of Wisconsin. The bill would primarily affect the research of only a single virology laboratory run by a single faculty member.

Why Wisconsin?

The University of Wisconsin has a specific virology laboratory engaged in gain of function research on potential pandemic pathogens. This laboratory, run by Professor Yoshihiro Kawaoka, is well-known in the research community to be conducting some of the highest-risk gain-of-function research in the entire world.

As part of its research activities, the Kawaoka Laboratory genetically engineers avian influenza virus and Ebola virus (both of which have a fatality rate of 60-70%) with the expressed purpose of making these viruses more transmissible between humans and thus more likely to cause devastating disease outbreaks.

The Kawaoka Laboratory has a track record of repeated violations of biosafety standards, repeated biosafety accidents, and repeated failures to inform local, state and federal authorities in a timely fashion.

Democrat Operative Rick Hasen Wants Trump Censored, American People Need Protection , Says Censor

Liberal Authoritarianism Returns with No Dissents from Democrats

Madison, Wisconsin — Rick Hasen is an election law scholar, commentator and Democrat operative.

It's the last two parts of his CV that has thrust the poor man into la-la land.

Hasen has joined the liberal-Democrat chorus of voices insisting that Donald Trump must be censored, deplatformed, and stopped from writing on social media because Trump's emissions are a "grave threat to American democracy" that likely will remain.

Instead of using the government to stop thought, Hasen wants to privatize repression of unpopular writing using the Tech Giants.

One thing about censors like Hasen is the spectacular narcissism and self-regard proclaiming Rick Hasen is fit to sift and winnow Trump's social media content with no threat that Hasen will be filled with hate or driven to violence, while others are not equipped with Hasen's powers of discernment.

Aaron Sorkin bellowed the same clarion call for censorship of Trump three years ago with the same lack of self awareness.

Censors such as every Democrat and Hasen who advocate for authoritative selection of published views  believe only they are immune from the corruption of unorthodox thoughts from a lunatic such as Trump. The American people cannot be trusted with exposure.

Time for another lesson on the need for the First Amendment, while there's still time.

From Justice William Brennan in New York Times v. Sullivan (1964):

The First Amendment, said Judge Learned Hand,

presupposes that right conclusions are more likely to be gathered out of a multitude of tongues than through any kind of authoritative selection. To many, this is, and always will be, folly, but we have staked upon it our all. United States v. Associated Press, 52 F.Supp. 362, 372 (D.C.S.D.N.Y. 1943).
Mr. Justice Brandeis, in his concurring opinion in Whitney v. California, 274 U.S. 357, 375-376, gave the principle its classic formulation:
Those who won our independence believed . . . that public discussion is a political duty, and that this should be a fundamental principle of the American government. ... Believing in the power of reason as applied through public discussion, they eschewed silence coerced by law -- the argument of force in its worst form. Recognizing the occasional tyrannies of governing majorities, they amended the Constitution so that free speech and assembly should be guaranteed.
Thus, we consider this case [New York Times v. Sullivan] against the background of a profound national commitment to the principle that debate on public issues should be uninhibited, robust, and wide-open, and that it may well include vehement, caustic, and sometimes unpleasantly sharp attacks on government and public officials. (New York Times v. Sullivan).
Hasen ought consider the foundations of Sullivan today, because free speech protections may not be around forever.

Social media, though it lives in private quasi utilities, well serves our national commitment to the principle that debate on public issues should be uninhibited.

There is another case, with another classic formulation, that Rick Hasen should give a once-over:  Brandenburg v. Ohio, 395 US 444 (1969).

That whole imminent lawless action test as it applies to politcal speech. Give it read, couldn't hurt.

Google, YouTube, Facebook Censoring Former NYT Reporter, Chris Hedges

Democratic Party-supported Big Tech has discovered an enemy of the state that must be censored: Former New York Times reporter, Chris Hedges.

Reports Hedges this week in ScheerPost:

"The entire archive of On Contact, the Emmy-nominated show I hosted for six years for RT America and RT International, has been disappeared from YouTube. Gone is the interview with Nathaniel Philbrick on his book about George Washington. Gone is the discussion with Kai Bird on his biography of J. Robert Oppenheimer. Gone is my exploration with Professor Sam Slote from Trinity College Dublin of James Joyce’s “Ulysses.” Gone is the show with Benjamin Moser on his biography of Susan Sontag. Gone is the show with Stephen Kinzer on his book on John Foster Dulles and Allen Dulles. Gone are the interviews with the social critics Cornel West, Tariq Ali, Noam Chomsky, Gerald Horne, Wendy Brown, Paul Street, Gabriel Rockwell, Naomi Wolff and Slavoj Zizek. Gone are the interviews with the novelists Russell Banks and Salar Abdoh. Gone is the interview with Kevin Sharp, a former federal judge, on the case of Leonard Peltier. Gone are the interviews with economists David Harvey and Richard Wolff. Gone are the interviews with the combat veterans and West Point graduates Danny Sjursen and Eric Edstrom about our wars in the Middle East. Gone are the discussions with the journalists Glenn Greenwald and Matt Taibbi. Gone are the voices of those who are being persecuted and marginalized, including the human rights attorney Steven Donziger and the political prisoner Mumia Abu Jamal. None of the shows I did on mass incarceration, where I interviewed those released from our prisons, are any longer on YouTube. Gone are the shows with the cartoonists Joe Sacco and Dwayne Booth. Melted into thin air, leaving not a rack behind."

The increasing censorship by Big Tech shows the extent to which Democratic Party-supporting Big Tech has become an adjunct the authoritarian Democrat Party.

Writes Glenn Greenwald: "I really believe history will record that the people who destroyed the full potential of the internet to free us of centralized state and corporate control are the liberal journalists, Dem politicians and activists who spent years demanding a new censorship regime from Big Tech."

Matt Taibbi wrote about Big Tech's censorship of Hedges.

So, I quoted Greenwald in a Facebook post, and added a link to Taibbi's piece.

This morning, Facebook alerted me it was censoring my Chris Hedges piece as a "violation of community standards," effectively demonstrating again what Hedges, Greenwald and Taibbi have been warning about for years.

Updated: Randy Hopper-owned radio station censors news of DWI arrest

Update: The Randy Hopper-owned KFIZ radio station has now run the Randy Hopper DWI story at the top of its web news page Tuesday morning, though the piece omits mention that Hopper "refused to take a breathalyzer test following [the] drunken driving arrest Sunday, according to a Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office report," as was reported by the Fond du Lac Reporter Monday.

The late posting of Hopper's arrest followed several Wisconsin bloggers' items noting the failure to report the Hopper's DWI story.

Hopper is described as "very cooperative" in the KFIZ report, a description attributed to Fond du Lac County Chief Deputy Sheriff Mark Strand, though refusals to take a breathalyzer test in these instances are not characterized as 'cooperative,' according to a municipal police officer speaking on background, serving in Wisconsin outside the Fond du Lac jurisdiction, who is known to harbor critical views of Gov. Scott Walker and Randy Hopper.

No word from KFIZ on an explanation for the tardiness of the news item, and a phone call to KFIZ Monday afternoon was followed by some six minutes on hold, after which the phone call was terminated by the caller. It is not unsual for local news-talk radio stations to have slim or no news staff.
---
Recalled senator Randy Hopper's Fond du Lac news radio station is blacking out news of Hopper's weekend DWI arrest that occurred early Sunday evening while in the company of his young mistress.

The Fond du Lac Reporter reports:

At 5:30 p.m. Sunday, a citizen dialed 911 to report a black Suburban [that Hopper was driving] 'all over the road' on Highway 151 near County Trunk WH in Peebles, said Chief Deputy Mark Strand.
But don't look for the Fond du Lac radio stations owned by Hopper to run any breaking news of the incident though the story is all over the Fox River Valley news outlets.

Fond du Lac's KFIZ, which has a news-talk radio format and is owned by Hopper's Mountain Dog Media, has not run any mention of Hopper's arrest as of mid-afternoon on Monday.

KFIZ' webpage has 17 other local news stories as of the time of this posting: 3:20 P.M.

KFIZ features programming from Fox News Radio.

Bama Dems Call for FCC Investigation into 60 Minutes Blackout by GOP CBS Affiliate

In the wake of the blocking of the broadcast of the Don Siegelman segment of 60 Minutes by Channel 19 WHNT serving Northern Alabama and Southern Tennessee, the Alabama Democratic party is calling for a FCC invetigation

As Scott Horton notes:

This station was noteworthy for its hostility to Siegelman and support for his Republican adversary. The station ran a trailer stating “We apologize that you missed the first segment of 60 Minutes tonight featuring ‘The Prosecution of Don Siegelman.’ It was a techincal problem with CBS out of New York.” I contacted CBS News in New York and was told that “There were no transmission difficulties. The problems were peculiar to Channel 19, which had the signal and had functioning transmitters.” Channel 19 is owned by Oak Hill Capital Partners, who can be contacted through Rhonda Barnat, 212-371-5999 or rb@abmac.com. Oak Hill Partners represents interests of the Bass family, which contribute heavily to the Republican Party. Viewers displeased about the channel’s decision to censor the broadcast should express their views directly to the station management or to the owners.

Alabama Democratic Party Calls for Special Prosecutor
Dems Say FCC Should Launch Inquiry into Huntsville CBS Blackout

The Alabama Democratic Party today called on the US Justice Dept. and the US House Judiciary Committee to appoint a special prosecutor into the allegations of the political prosecution of former Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman after the facts and interviews were released by CBS Television Network in their 60 Minutes program this past Sunday night.

Executive Director, Jim Spearman says there is too much smoke and too many facts for DOJ and Congress to ignore. "Abuse of the federal prosecutorial system for partisan political gain must be taken very seriously. The accusations by the 52 former state attorneys general, including the former republican AG from Arizona Grant Woods should be taken into account by the US Attorney General", Spearman says. Congress should not delay in taking the next step to call witnesses and to hold those not answering supeanoes in contempt of Congress.

For the Alabama Republican Party to issue its statement yesterday prior to the airing of the 60 Minutes segment trying to discredit CBS even before the program airs shows that indeed republicans may have something to hide.

"How can the ALGOP really try to discredit a former republican AG who is now a co-chair of their US Presidential Nominee's campaign effort,"Spearman notes.

Also today, Alabama Democratic Chairman Joe Turnham says he will send a letter to the Federal Communications Commission asking for a formal inquiry into the CBS Huntsville affiliate black out of the the Siegelman airing. It has come to the attention of many Democrats in North Alabama that the principal owners of WHNT are Bush Pioneers and major republican donors. Many suspect that enormous pressure was put on CBS to not air the Siegelman story. If CBS received political pressure to stifle the first amendment rights of the network or affiliate, the FCC and Congress should take appropriate oversight into the matter.
