Wisconsin's Worst Sheriff Retiring — Mark Wiegert Tricked Brendan Dassey; Illegally Destroyed Evidence

Mark Wiegert — Sheriff of Calumet County,
Wisconsin. Wiegert infamously tricked a
child into a false confession in 2006. Now legislators
and police around the country use the video of Wiegert
lying to a child as an example of what not to do.
"What occurred here was the interrogation of an
intellectually impaired juvenile. Dassey was subjected
to myriad psychologically coercive techniques but the
state court did not review his interrogation with the
special care required by Supreme Court precedent. His
confession was not voluntary and his conviction should
not stand, and yet an impaired teenager has been
sentenced to life in prison. I view this as a profound

It takes a lousy bastard to lie to and manipulate a child for the purpose of tricking him into a perilous situation.

I'm from Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, city of the infamous Halloween Killer.

Our community took great effort to warn our children to stay away from predators, sick people who do not see children as human beings.

But in east-central Wisconsin, we feed our children to these people, and they wear a badge.

Wiegert's crimes against the community include:

- Illegal destruction of evidence scheme - Flaunting Wisconsin's evidence preservation law, in 2011 Calumet County Sheriff Deputy Jeremy Hawkins, Mark Wiegert,and DoJ Attorneys Thomas Fallon and Norman Gahn secretly sneaked the remains of Ms. Teresa Halbach out of evidence and illegally transported the bones to the Halbach family. Now, Wiegert and his conspirators lie about what they did, claiming in effect they gave animal bones to a murder victim's family.

Incredibly, Wiegert received the Meritorious Service Award from the Wisconsin Association of Homicide Investigators on May 2, 2008 for his grotesque 2006 interrogation of an innocent kid.

Mark Wiegert will soon be feasting on his tax payer-financed pension, instead of burning in hell for his perverting of the judicial system against an innocent teenager.

Fitchburg, Wisconsin — The scheme to rename City Hall after a one-term mayor who served in the early 1990s is looking a little sadder and sleazier two weeks after the private decision of Frances Huntley-Cooper and Michael Johnson was shared with the public, (Fitchburg Star. Wisconsin State Journal, Madison365).

The effort reportedly is the brainchild of Johnson, president and CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Dane County, and Huntley-Cooper.

Johnson is not a resident of Fitchburg, and was not a Wisconsin resident when Huntley-Cooper served one term as mayor beginning in 1991.

Still no public comment from Frances Huntley-Cooper after numerous local news stories. She is assuming a royalist posture that she has no public duty to explain to Fitchburg residents why we must  pay public paens to her alleged greatness. 

This monarchical silence is an interesting take from someone who wants the seat of local representative government and democracy named after her.

But we should not be surprised.

Our job as residents, as seen by Frances Huntley-Cooper and Michael Johnson, is to ratify their scheme  and sing public hosanna to the highest. Frances Huntley-Cooper has always acted like the public owes her.

Our most sacred traditions and cherished democratic values mean nothing to Frances Huntley-Cooper.

Effort to Rename Fitchburg, Wisconsin City Hall Is Politically Correct Theater

Update: The Fitchburg Star is out with the story and guess what Frances Huntley-Cooper deigns to offer as comment: Nothing. As in, "Huntley-Cooper did not immediately respond to a Dec. 2 email from the Fitchburg Star asking for comment."

The narcissism and anti-democratic attitude towards the Fitchburg people of Ms. Huntley-Cooper are astounding. C'mon, don't we the people of Fitchburg deserve even a comment? Guess not.

Fitchburg, Wisconsin — Emily Hamer reports in the Wisconsin State Journal on an effort to change the name of Fitchburg City Hall to the Frances Huntley-Cooper Municipal Building, (Madison365).

Ms. Huntley-Cooper is the first African American mayor in Wisconsin history. She served one term, unremarkable, from 1991 to 1993.

The effort reportedly is the brainchild of Michael Johnson, president and CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Dane County, and others. Johnson told Madison365 he has considered his decision for about a year.

Johnson is not a resident of Fitchburg, and was not a Wisconsin resident when Huntley-Cooper served one term as mayor beginning in 1991.

Renaming City Hall is a foolish idea on too many levels to itemize here.

It seems redolent of the compulsion to establish a Ronald Reagan monument in every county in the United States, or plastering someone's face on public structures to honor their greatness, like Stalin, Mao or Saddam Hussein.

But characterizing, honoring or debasing any human being on the basis of skin color, even a one-term mayor who served some 30 years ago, honors racial classification schemes leading anti-fascist writers, such as Norman Cohn, Ashley Montagu and Marvin Harris, to note similar enterprises as meaningless myth, an idea that 'race' enjoys a status as anything but irrational, nonsensical and demonstrably false.

I don't know why Frances Huntley-Cooper endorses this effort.

Thirty-one years ago, I broke the news in The Capital Times that Ms. Huntley-Cooper would become Wisconsin's first black mayor in Nov. 1990 when she declared for a mayoral run.

Huntley-Cooper downplayed the fact of 'Wisconsin's first black mayor' in a phone conversation then, and I had to rewrite a draft incorporating her comments and stated campaign priorities before I filed the piece.

What has changed since then, in my view, is the rise of woke identity politics that glorifies and validates 'race' as a system purporting to have non-zero scientific status.

I don't think the liberals raising this flag of the cancel culture have the faintest clue how toxic and ridiculous is their performative theater in this proposed renaming, not seen since the great removal of the 42-ton boulder from UW-Madison because the pre-Cambrian rock was deemed racist.

Hey, nothing against Frances Huntley-Cooper, but I think I can make a good case for renaming City Hall after Doug Morrissette, Mark Vivian, Roger Tesch, Jay Allen, Tom Clauder, Dave Herbst or current Mayor Aaron Richardson, among dozens of others who have served our city honorably.

We could even emblazon the front of City Hall with a likeness of the chosen's face.

If we are going to brand and rename monuments, buildings and parks, then I want Western Hills Park by our home renamed after my wife, Jackie Captain, for her outstanding work on anti-fascist artists, Ben Shahn and Eugene Higgins.

Further, I want to rename my street, now Monticello Way in the Jamestown neighborhood — named after a seventeenth century indentured servant-cum-slave colony — renamed Don Kosterman Way in recognition of this Fitchburg resident's academic work on the Milwaukee Police Dept's unconstitutional effort to sabotage the publishing of Kaleidoscope in the 1960s-70s.

See what I am getting at here?

Representative democracy and municipal policy are not about one person, or even one body of elected persons.

Especially on the municipal level, democracy is about the people and their liberties that make democratic processes a breathing monument that lives forever for future generations.

If we are truly to rename a such a vital public building as City Hall, the process being contemplated — a Common Council resolution — is inadequate.

We need a much more deliberative process that would include and invite extensive public input, a long list of nominations, including a referendum that offers no-name change at all, because every present and future Fitchburg resident has a stake in this enterprise.

Venerable Cooperative Turns on Its Members

Madison, Wisconsin — The Dane County community has voiced anecdotal complaints the past several years about the conduct of UW Credit Union employees toward its members.

Personnel at the UW Credit Union have become genuinely mean-spirited, bordering on hostile to some longtime members, an absurd situation in light of the fact credit unions exist to serve their members.

Part of the problem is a narcissism and corporatism creeping into this increasingly alien culture of an institution organized as a cooperative.  

Some members see the UW Credit Union moving toward a caste system culture in which UW Credit Union employees are the higher-ups and Credit Union members occupy a lower caste in banking transactions and policy.

For Wisconsinites accustomed to Wisconsin friendliness, the UW Credit Union is about to become meaner.

The UW Credit Union is imposing a binding arbitration agreement on its members, and the clock is ticking, because members have 30 days, until June 3, 2021, to opt out before members lose several of their legal rights, including trial by jury for civil actions against the UW Credit Union.

On and about May 3, 2021, longtime members of the Credit Union received a five-page letter alerting members that the new Arbitration Agreement, Class Action Waiver and Jury Trial Waiver would be used to settle claims of alleged Credit Union misconduct.

Members were not consulted on this new policy, according to several members, UW-Madison alumni, reached this weekend.

The UW Credit Union just thought up the Arbitration Agreement, Class Action Waiver and Jury Trial Waiver, and informed members they have 30 days to opt out, if and only if members look up Section M in the fine-print May 3 letter, and then send another letter to the indicated address. But the new forced arbitration policy raises more questions than it answers.

If arbitration agreements are such a good deal for members, why does the Credit Union impose a use-it or lose-it opt-out agreement?

The Credit Union says losing rights is all about "improving the financial well-being" of members, (p.2), citing class action suits, for example.

Forced arbitration of the kind the UW Credit Union is imposing, means any dispute between members and the Credit Union are to be settled by arbitrators in a binding decision, and the results are secret.

This arbitration agreement lessens Credit Union accountability and members are at the mercy of an increasingly corporate and hostile organization.

A member contacted says he/she would not even know where to voice a complaint about the new agreements, and is afraid of retaliation.

The practice of imposing forced arbitration agreement on patrons, members, owners and employees is common in corporate America.

But as the UW Credit Union has become bigger over the decades, many Wisconsinites feel it has lost touch with its own members, and this latest policy is part of trend towards the adversarial with respect to the very community the institution was created to serve.

Michael Johnson of Boys, Girls Clubs of Dane County Confers Legitimacy onto Leading Wisconsin Racist

Updated - Madison, Wisconsin — Shame on Michael Johnson, President and CEO of Boys and Girls Clubs of Dane County.

Johnson has been back on the job for two years, but this is plenty of time for him to sell out and self-deal.

Johnson breathlessly posted in social media the news he is meeting with Wisconsin Assembly Speaker Robin Vos (R) this week. 

Then the Johnson-Vos summit was close, Johnson wrote. 

Then Johnson emerged with secret "immediate action steps" to protect black and brown youth. What are these action steps; Johnson didn't say, (WISC-TV)?

But Johnson did get his headlines, and the man who goes by the handle, MJohnsonCEO on Twitter, has met another objective, getting his name in the news and upping his profile.

The problem is Johnson in the process is legitimizing a leading Wisconsin racist, Robin Vos, as Republican police have morphed into sadism and open allegiance with white power citizen groups, as Republicans cheer them on.

Two lives taken by GOP-supported racists, Jacob Blake's spinal cord severed, organs eviscerated, and Johnson plays for headlines?

Johnson calls himself a "change agent."

 

But Vos is not a good-faith player, and we are going to long for the days that Republicans committed mere petty acts of juvenile spite and mass incarceration.

 

What drives Johnson conferring legitimacy onto Vos? 

 

It's the monarch syndrome, a delusion of royalty. 

 

The narcissistic belief of Michael Johnson's is that he is a king, and, indeed, his highness is hostile to public criticism of his public performance, which Johnson sees as seditious libel, or being "disrespect(ed)," in his description.

I have news for Michael Johnson. This is a classical liberal democracy and a semi-free country, though political speech of public figures is one aspect in which we do lead the world.

Conferring legitimacy onto racists for headlines is a betrayal. Johnson was wrong to do it for cheap headlines to up his profile.

 

But I look forward to reading all about these "immediate action steps" from the increasingly narcissistic and dishonest Michael Johnson.

Vos, police and Republicans are not seeking dialogue. As Scott Gordon writes, "people [are] exploding in fury against racist policing" that kill and maim.

And Republicans in black and blue and gerrymandered offices are cheering them on. Johnson giving these people cover in their lies should be challenged repeatedly.

Madison in Top Five Lesbian Meccas

The Advocate asks "What’s a girl to do once she’s crossed off San Francisco, New York, West Hollywood, and Portland?"

Madison comes in at Number Two for things a girl could do.

Madison remains a spear in the side of bigots and morons everywhere, especially the state GOP that still can't believe that the 1960s happened, much less the 40 years hence.

First, they're helping the blacks down south vote, stopping a war and now letting women love, what's next?
