Rep. Brian Baird Drinks the Kool-Aid

Rep. Brian Baird (D-Wash.) comes back from a recent dog and pony show in Iraq and, the Washington Post reports, announces "that he will no longer support a timetable for withdrawal, warning of a 'potentially catastrophic effect' on the region."

Potentially catastrophic effect on the region?

What's Baird saying? That we make clear that our illegal occupation will last only a limited period of time and all hell will break loose.

All hell is breaking loose.

And proclaiming that our illegal occupation will end does not preclude American reparations for the damage inflicted, and organizing a regional peace conference of all interested parties in the region for mutual security and, I don't know, how about justice and international law?

Let's get the UN invovled; maybe they still want to be "relavant," as our dear leader once suggested.

Of-course that might entail calling for Israel's abiding by international law in its own illegal occupations, and calling for human rights in Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the other 'moderate' Arab states.

Wouldn't want to do that.

Better we stay where we are not wanted and see if we still might be able to finesse a client oil state in Iraq.

After all, that why we invade countries; it's not like their resources aren't ours to use as we please.

Anything else would be just catastrophic.
