Wisconsin Blue Wave Grows in Special Elections That Were Blocked by Scott Walker

Concern with safe and clean
water is fueling the Blue Wave.

Madison, Wisconsin — Wisconsin citizens flipped a deep-red state senate seat and slashed a double-digit GOP margin in a gerrymandered assembly district last night in an unmistakable signal the Blue Wave is huge in Wisconsin.

The two special elections were blocked by Gov. Scott Walker earlier this year after Walker refused his statutory duty to order special elections after legislative vacancies.

The two districts will now have a sitting representative from June to January 2019, the first time since 2017 that residents could speak with a sitting representative.

"Now, I can pick up the phone and call my state senator, Caleb Frostman, and talk about the issues that affect my community," said a Door County resident this morning. "Contacting my legislator is what our republic is supposed to be about. Not for Scott Walker."

Scott Walker was so desperate to block the elections, it took the intervention of three judges to order Walker to fulfill his duty.

The judicial action was brought by the National Democratic Redistricting Committee, headed by former Attorney General Eric Holder.

"Scott Walker and his Republican allies gerrymandered this district for their own partisan benefit. But the citizens of Wisconsin are clearly speaking out this year to demand a state government that better represents their values," said Holder Tuesday night, (Terkel, Huntington Post).

Caleb Frostman (D)         14,606 votes       51% (19-point blue swing from 2016)
André Jacque     (R)         13,800  votes      49%

State Assembly Dist 42

Jon Plumer (R)                5,713 votes          53% (7-point blue swing from 2016)
Ann Groves Lloyd (D)    4,834  votes         45%

There are three assembly districts in each senate district in Wisconsin.

Even in the contorted 42nd assembly
district comprising parts of six
counties, Republicans lost seven
points last night in the Special Elections
that were blocked by Gov. Scott Walker
last Spring.

Because of Republican gerrymandering of state redistricting, the contorted assembly district 42 comprises parts of six counties, shown on a map at right, jagged and stretched-out like clay had been stepped on and carved up.

Republicans called the election results both "meaningless" and indicative of a mere blue "trickle," ignoring the 19 and seven-point blue swings, (Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel).

No amount of Republican contorting the results last night in Wisconsin can change facts:

Updated - Madison, Wisconsin — In the northeastern Wisconsin special election for state senate, rightwing social extremist, State Rep. Andre Jacque (R- De Pere, Wisconsin), faces an uphill climb against Democratic Party nominee, Caleb Frostman.

There has been a predictable frenzy of mailings, TV spots, and heavy field work before the special election next Tuesday, June 12 — an election so dreaded by Gov. Scott Walker that he blocked this election (and another) in an unprecedented action until ordered to hold the elections by state courts in March after Eric Holder filed a writ of mandamus petition.

But now things have gotten ugly.

An ad by supporters of Jacque makes a false charge, calling Frostman, a former Green Bay East High School defensive lineman, a Minnesota Vikings fan, an attack in

northeastern Wisconsin that is only surpassed by insinuations a candidate harbors love for the Bears and the serial killer and cannibal, Jeffrey Dahmer.

Frostman retorted and disconfirmed the false attack swiftly on Facebook, below.

Jacaque is often ridiculed by Wisconsin progressives for Jacque's Evangelical opposition to allowing women to make reproductive decisions and for his opposition to stem cells.

Republicans went after Frostman's strength as a football star and outdoors man.

What's next, a charge that Caleb Frostman is actually a secret-agent terrorist?

Wisconsin Republicans are desperate. Scott Walker this week preemptively declared the special elections are not signs Republicans are in political trouble here, no matter the outcome.

Wisconsin State Senate Special Election — Patrick Markham Pleads Not Guilty in Poisoning Protesters in "Coal Treatment" Case

Coalition held a small protest in April outside of the
Sturgeon Bay Yacht Club where Scott Walker and
Republicans chided citizens for opposing Walker's
reelection. The gathering of some 38 residents was
disrupted by a white truck, reportedly driven by a local
Republican activist, Patrick Markham, owner
of North Shore Marine Services. The truck
approached the crowd and ejected black smoke
at the gathering, a rightwing tactic to disrupt protests. The
tactic is known variously as "rolling coal" and the "coal
treatment." Rolling coal is the injection of fuel into an
engine to cause a profusion of black exhaust fumes directed
at targets. The fumes are a dangerous pollutant, and
extremely dangerous to children, a fact that Markham ignored.

that he "rolled coal threw, (sic) them when I left work."
Markham also said, "I am glad they got the coal treatment,"

"In July 2014, the United States Environmental Protection
Agency stated that the practice was illegal, as it
violated the Clean Air Act," reads an entry in Wikipedia.

Scott Walker has malicious supporters emboldened, including Patrick Markham of Door County who directed toxic truck fumes at families at an April protest, and then bragged about it. Markham was let off with civil citation, but pleaded Not Guilty

Updated - Patrick Markham pled Not Guilty today to a disorderly conduct citation issued for directing toxic fumes at families during a pro-democracy protest held outside a Scott Walker event in April in Sturgeon Bay, according the Door County Clerk of Courts office.

Gov. Scott Walker spoke at the Republican Door County Wisconsin Lincoln Day Dinner in Sturgeon Bay on April 7, saying citizens opposing his reelection are hateful.

It's a typical move by Walker who has spent decades dividing Wisconsinites, attacking citizens holding to opposing views, and then accusing his opponents of engaging in hate, (Welter, Green Bay Press Gazette). When Walker ran for president in 2015, he likened protesters to ISIS, (Mal Contends, Mal Contends).

A local Wisconsin journal, the Door County Advocate, (part of the USA-Today Network), ran a Facebook video of the protest against Walker held outside the Sturgeon Bay Yacht Club where Walker and Wisconsin Republicans spoke in April.

The protest was organized by the Door County Indivisible Coalition.

The Advocate video disconfirms Walker's characterization of the protest derided by Walker at the Republican event. Walker made several specific references to the protest.

The self-proclaimed actions of a Republican in Door County, Patrick Markham of  Luxemburg, Wisconsin, also contradicts Walker though he pleaded not guilty to a civil citation in Door County Case Number 2018FO000139 Sturgeon Bay, City of vs. Patrick Forest Markham.

How Markham can deny his malicious actions caught on video and about which he bragged is unclear.

The Door County Advocate video of the protest features a loud sound and visible smoke from a truck Markham claims to have driven.

A protester is seen on video, saying a "rude person" just "gassed everybody," in a purposeful, malignant act directing poisonous emissions at some three dozen protesters including three children.

The incident had been reported to the Sturgeon Bay Police Dept, and, reportedly, protest participants are contemplating civil legal action.

ALERT:  A number of you were at the "Welcome to Republicans" rally that we held on April 7th in Sturgeon Bay.  At one point during the rally a white truck (with two small children inside the truck) "rolled coal" at all of our rally participants.  We have since learned that "rolling coal" or black smoke is illegal - especially since we had three children and a donkey as well as 38 participants who could have been adversely affected by this action.  One of our members reported this incident to the police.  The incident was documented in part by the Facebook bragging by the participant who either works for or owns a business in Sturgeon Bay - Markham is his name.  The Police Department was very disturbed by this event.  The officer wanted to know if any of us have video or other evidence that would document this despicable action.  So please, if you have a picture or are willing to be a witness let me know.  I think that the "hate and anger" rhetoric of the Republicans needs to be rebutted.
