Think Scott Walker ordering Milwaukee County staff to post comments on news sites was bad, read Glenn Greenwald's new piece on The Intercept.
This repulsive activity described by Greenwald is worse than anything dreamt by J. Edger Hoover.
Cyber defamation and manipulation is not the sole purview of the U.S.; other countries and their assets engage in this cyber war ALL THE TIME.
Writes Greenwald:
"One of the many pressing stories that remains to be told from the Snowden archive is how western intelligence agencies are attempting to manipulate and control online discourse with extreme tactics of deception and reputation-destruction. It’s time to tell a chunk of that story, complete with the relevant documents."
Don't think of U.S. intelligence as a monolithic, unitary community.
There are as many factions in American intel as there are in the American public, though Mormons and hyper-Likud Party assets who routinely betray the U.S. are among the most fetid.
False flags, and other intel tactics are what happens every day behind the scenes, when it is turned on American citizens we have a bigger problem.
