Knowing the ahistorical, fact-challenged ways of the American political system, the GOP is now using the national debt as justification for torpedoing any semblance of health reform.
That the Bush administration inherited a fiscal and economic environment that saw the United States on course to eliminate public debt in one decade, and then pursued fiscal policies and the Bush version of RX reform self-consciously driving the debt into the stratosphere should not be dredged up, say Sen. Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) and Mitch McConnell (R-KY).
Sen. Olympia Snowe (R-Maine): "Dredging up history is not the way to move forward."
What the hell is wrong with Maine, alone in New England in electing GOP senators?
