The antipathy for Hillary Clinton points to a problem with having her on the ticket looking to win independents, building on Obama’s appeal to men and attracting evangelicals.
So broaden the ticket.
Why not a ticket that includes say John Edwards for AG, Hillary for Secretary of State (or a promised SC seat), Chuck Hagel for Secretary of Defense and so on—a Cabinet-in-waiting offering real change and a huge coalition?
For a campaign like Obama’s that has broken many political traditions, a unity-promoting idea like a proposed Cabinet ticket would have broad appeal.
Combine such a proposed Cabinet with a broad set of reforms, and the change message would appear unstoppable.
