Nairn, as Empire Notes explains, is "the brilliant investigative journalist who did groundbreaking work in Guatemala, Mexico, Haiti, East Timor, and elsewhere (for example, he broke the story of CIA connections with FRAPH, the paramilitary goon squad that worked as enforcers for the military regime that ousted Aristide in 1990)... ."
Fact-based investigative reporting, concern with human rights, no concern with the political agenda of governments, the man is a true enemy of the state.
