Chris Dodd Fights for the Fourth Amendment

From an e-mail from Democrats.com.

On Thursday, the Washington Post announced the unilateral surrender of Senator Jay Rockefeller to Bush's demand for immunity for the telephone giants that began wiretapping all of us illegally in February 2001.

Were we surprised? No. Were we angry? You bet. And did we do something? Absolutely!

We and other progressive bloggers called for one Senator - any Senator - to put a hold on the Rockefeller Betrayal Bill. And within hours, one Senator stepped up to defend the Constitution: Chris Dodd. He declared,
"The Military Commissions Act. Warrantless wiretapping. Shredding of Habeas Corpus. Torture. Extraordinary Rendition. Secret Prisons. No more."

Thank you for defending the Constitution, Senator Dodd!

According to Senate custom, a hold takes a bill "off the table" until the Senator's concerns are resolved. But this time, Senator Harry Reid put a knife in Dodd's back by scheduling a November vote on the Rockefeller Betrayal Bill.

We must get Senator Dodd's back.

1. Tell all the other progressive Senators to stand with Senator Dodd: http://www.democrats.com/hold-the-wiretap-bill

2. Tell your Senators and Representative to stop Bush's warrantless wiretapping: http://www.democrats.com/peoplesemailnetwork/114
