Bush Vetoes Health Care for Children

Update: McClatchy: Bush veto strategy threatens Republicans

Bush’s decision to halt that evil idea of giving millions of poor children health care and vetoing the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) may be sustained by the U.S. House, but this will be a Pyrrhic victory for Bush and the Republicans.

The Republicans are pricks, and by constantly exerting themselves to fit into this mean-spirited narrow matrix, they are performing the work of their political opponents.

A few short years ago, the Republicans were superb at branding their party; now the GOP is lost and floundering in its own narrow ideology, as Dick Cheney growls: Stick to principle.
